Purpose of the Role
The incumbent will be responsible to support the Project/Production Manager in achieving coal production and OB removal targets while ensuring safe, efficient and compliant mining operations through effective deployment of manpower, machinery and other resources.
Job Responsibilities (KRA)
- Assist the Project Manager in achieving coal production and OB removal targets while ensuring safe and efficient utilization of available resources.
- Ensure production and dispatch commitments are achieved in terms of quantity and quality through optimal deployment of machinery, manpower and other resources.
- Coordinate with Auto-Electrical, Electrical, Mechanical, Excavation and Blasting departments for smooth and safe mining operations.
- Monitor shift-wise operational performance, maintain logbooks, records and reports, and highlight critical observations to the Project/Production Manager.
- Ensure compliance with applicable statutory regulations, SOPs, Code of Practice and mine safety requirements.
- Conduct shift-start safety talks/toolbox talks covering unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, near misses and other safety concerns.
- Monitor mine safety and traffic discipline, including dumper/tipper loading, overloading prevention, designated routes and prescribed traffic rules.
- Ensure unauthorized personnel or vehicles do not enter the mining area and monitor compliance with geo-fencing and mine boundaries.
- Ensure appropriate action is taken against personnel found under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicating substances.
- Immediately report accidents, incidents, near misses, security concerns and other emergencies to the concerned authorities.
- Ensure proper security arrangements for coal-loaded tippers/dumpers that break down while in transit.
- Monitor haul road conditions, equipment breakdowns, weather conditions and other operational/safety concerns, ensuring timely corrective action.
- Take immediate decisions and appropriate action during weather-related disruptions, emergencies and critical operational situations.
- Ensure availability of adequate firefighting arrangements, dust suppression, illumination and environmental/workplace safety measures.
- Coordinate with the Control Room and ensure safe working practices, including prevention of unauthorized mobile-phone usage during operational activities.
- Ensure effective shift handover, covering equipment status, breakdowns, safety concerns, pending activities and other critical operational information.
- Remain at the workplace until properly relieved by the designated successor.
- Ensure proper understanding and implementation of relevant Mining Operations and Transportation Facilitation applications, their functionality and applicable SOPs.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Project Manager or senior management in support of safe, efficient and productive mining operations.
