Job Description

Purpose of the Role 
T
o manage and ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted handling, storage, feeding, and movement of Raw Materials - Metallic, Ferro alloys, Carbon, fluxes and other materials required for SMS. Responsible for maintaining material availability, equipment healthiness, manpower & equipment utilization, housekeeping, Safety, Audit and coordination with production and maintenance teams

Job Responsibilities (KRA)

  1. Ensure uninterrupted availability and timely feeding of Metallics, Ferro Alloys, Fluxes, Carbon, and various feed mixes to minimize production losses due to RM constraints. Reduction in SMS-MH equipment downtime and ensure high equipment availability. Prepare and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports related to SMS-MH operations
  2. Monitor material receipt, unloading, stacking, conveying, screening, feeding & shop floor shifting operations. Maintain min. required stock levels of critical materials.
  3. Ensure correct material routing to designated daybins, silos, ground hoppers and feeding systems. Reduction in material spillage and losses.
  4. Monitor material levels in Daybins/Silos and ground hoppers and coordinate replenishment to avoid production interruption. 
  5. Ensure proper FIFO/stock rotation & equipment availability and reliability. Timely drop-test and reconcile physical stock with book stock.
  6. Monitor material consumption against production requirements and identify abnormal consumption.
  7. Coordinate with SMS, DRMH, Scrap yard, stores, logistics, commercial, Security and other concerned departments for smooth material flow.
  8.     Ensure proper handling and segregation of different materials to avoid contamination and mixing.
  9. Ensure availability, operational healthiness and safe operation of conveyor belts, vibro feeders, daybins, hoppers, chutes, gates, weigh feeders, MRGs, Cranes, forklifts, loader, dumpers and other material-handling equipment.
  10. Coordinate with Mechanical, E&I and Civil teams for timely rectification of equipment issues.
  11. Monitor breakdowns, recurring problems, and equipment abnormalities and ensure timely corrective actions.
  12. Planning for PM, prepare and monitor shutdown/ASD job requirements and ensure proper condition of MH equipment & review checklists. Monitor delays, stoppages, and bottlenecks in MH system.
  13. Ensure strict compliance with plant safety procedures, SOPs, work permits, LOTO, PPE requirements. Identify unsafe conditions, Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings and job-specific risk assessments. Investigate incidents/near misses and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  14. Plan and deploy manpower & equipment effectively for shift operations. Ensure the manpower properly trained and authorized for their respective equipment and process improvement and cost optimization.

Job Requirements (KPI)
Diploma / B.E in Mechanical

3-4 years’ experience in SMS-MH operations. Knowledge of MH equipment, troubleshooting &  operational reporting.
