Purpose of the Role
To support mechanical equipment of the Hot Rolling Mill running with minimum breakdowns. Support planned maintenance, shutdown jobs and quick breakdown recovery.
Job Responsibilities (KRA)
- Carry out daily inspection and preventive maintenance of mill equipment such as reheating furnace pushers/extractors, roughing and finishing stands, work rolls and backup rolls, coilers, shears, roller tables and descaling system.
- Attend breakdowns, find the root cause and restore equipment quickly.
- Support roll change, chock and bearing change, gearbox and spindle maintenance.
- Maintain hydraulic and lubrication systems (pumps, valves, cylinders, filters, oil condition).
- Plan and execute shutdown and annual overhaul jobs with contractors and in-house teams.
- Maintain records of breakdowns, spares consumption and equipment history in SAP/CMMS.
- Raise spare and material requirements and follow up with stores and purchase.
- Follow safety rules, permit to work, LOTO and housekeeping standards.
- Support reliability work such as condition monitoring, vibration and thermography checks, and RCA of repeat failures.
- Guide and supervise contractor and technician manpower on the shop floor.

Experience and Skills
- 1 - 5 years in mechanical maintenance in a Hot Rolling Mill / Hot Strip Mill / Long Product Mill of an integrated or large steel plant
- Freshers or candidates from similar rolling mill backgrounds can be considered for a trainee-level role, if the client agrees
Key Performance Areas
- Good knowledge of rolling mill mechanical equipment and drives
- Hands-on with hydraulics, pneumatics and centralised lubrication systems
- Understanding of gearboxes, couplings, spindles, bearings and alignment
- Basic knowledge of condition monitoring (vibration, oil analysis, thermography)
- Working knowledge of SAP PM or any CMMS
- Able to read mechanical and hydraulic drawings
