Purpose of the Role
The Manager – IT Infrastructure will run and secure the IT backbone that links the Kolkata corporate office with plants, grinding units and regional offices. The role owns network uptime, security, data centre and cloud operations, and vendor performance. It keeps plant and business systems available with minimum downtime.
Job Responsibilities (KRA)
Network and Connectivity
• Manage the WAN/LAN linking corporate office, plants, depots and regional offices
• Run MPLS, SD-WAN, leased lines and ISP links with proper failover
• Plan and maintain L2/L3 switching and routing (BGP, OSPF, VLANs)
• Manage wireless networks at office and plant locations
IT Security
• Manage firewalls, UTMs, VPN and secure remote access
• Put in place and monitor endpoint security, MFA and DLP
• Coordinate VAPT, security audits and closure of findings
• Support ISO 27001 or similar compliance, where applicable
Data Centre, Servers and Cloud
• Manage servers, storage, virtualisation and cloud workloads
• Own backup, disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity (BCP) plans
• Support uptime of core business systems such as ERP (SAP or similar – to be confirmed)
Operations and Service Delivery
• Run day-to-day IT operations with defined SLAs
• Manage incidents, problems and changes through a ticketing system
• Set up monitoring and alerts for network and server health
• Maintain IT asset register, licences and audit records
Vendor and Budget Management
• Manage ISPs, OEMs, system integrators and AMC vendors
• Track vendor SLAs and drive cost savings
• Prepare and control the IT infrastructure budget (CAPEX and OPEX)
Team and Governance
• Lead and guide the IT infra team and site IT engineers
• Write and enforce IT policies and SOPs
• Plan and deliver infra projects, including IT set-up for new plants and expansions
Job Requirements (KPI)
• Hands-on L2/L3 routing and switching (BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VRF)
• Multi-site WAN: MPLS, SD-WAN, leased lines, ISP failover
• Firewall and UTM management (at least one of: Palo Alto, Fortinet, Check Point, Sophos, Cisco ASA)
• VPN and secure remote access (IPSec, SSL)
• Server, storage and virtualisation basics (Windows/Linux, VMware or Hyper-V)
• Backup, DR and BCP set-up and testing
• Vendor and SLA management with ISPs and OEMs
• Experience leading a small IT team across locations
• IT infra experience in manufacturing or process plants (cement, steel, power, mining)
• Exposure to plant OT networks and IT–OT integration
• Cloud platforms (AWS or Azure)
• ISO 27001 audit exposure
• ITIL-based service management
Certifications
• CCNA / CCNP (Cisco)
• Firewall vendor certification (Palo Alto, Fortinet or similar)
• AWS or Azure certification
• ITIL Foundation
• Education: B.E. / B.Tech (IT, CS, ECE) or BCA / B.Sc (IT, Networking). MCA or equivalent is a plus.
• Total experience: 8 – 10 years in IT infrastructure and networking.
• Relevant experience: At least 3 – 4 years in a lead or manager role handling multi-location infrastructure.
• Preferred background: Manufacturing, process industry, or large multi-site enterprises. Candidates from ISP or system integrator backgrounds with strong enterprise delivery can also be considered.
